PayPal vs Amazon vs gift cards: what pays out best?

Once you hit the $5 minimum, you get a choice: PayPal cash, Amazon gift cards, or other gift card brands. Your balance is already in dollars, so there is no conversion math — the decision comes down to three practical questions.

How fast do you want it?

Withdrawals are instant regardless of type. Gift card codes arrive by email and are usable the moment they land. PayPal transfers are sent to your PayPal balance immediately and can then be spent or moved to a bank account, which can add a banking delay on your side depending on your country.

How flexible does it need to be?

PayPal is the most flexible: it is money, full stop. Amazon is nearly as good if you were going to shop there anyway. Brand gift cards make sense only when you already buy from that brand — a gift card you never use is a 100% fee.

  • PayPal: maximum flexibility, requires a verified PayPal account and 2FA on withdrawal.
  • Amazon: near-cash if you shop there; codes never expire in most regions.
  • Brand gift cards: occasionally offered with bonus value — only worth it for brands you actually use.

The honest recommendation

Take PayPal unless a gift card is offered at a bonus rate for a store you already spend money at. And whatever you choose, withdraw regularly instead of hoarding a huge balance — smaller, frequent payouts get you comfortable with the process and keep your earnings liquid.
